Baidu App Store is a good looking program where you can download many programs and games for your computer, read reviews and look at screenshots. This software also updates your programs which are out-of-date that are on your computer already. In those departments Baidu App Store does its job pretty well but there are a few issues…
Once you start the app you will notice strait away the good looks and an easy to use interface. It’s quite eye catching. The Home page lets you see and browse through apps, games and collections which are hot at the moment. Downloading applications and games is really easy. Baidu App Store features a category section, for instance Audio, Video, Tools, Internet, Games, Security etc., so you can browse and find the program you need more easily. If you know exactly which app or game you wish to download there is also a search box. You can also visit the Game Center where you can find all sorts of games, download wallpapers or even uninstall programs from your computer. Once you choose a category, for instance lets say the Browsers page, Baidu App Store will display all the browsers that are in its database and you can sort them by popularity, ratings or A-Z and vice versa. So everything is looking great so far until you click on the name of the software you wish to download. The first thing you’ll see are the screenshots and the review, software and games are reviewed in three to four sentences and when you scroll down there are advertisement ads. There is also no developer’s description. There are screenshots of programs, but they consist of only two to three images and that’s it. So the vital part of the program which is there to inform you in depth about the software you wish to download is done very poorly. If you are downloading a game you never played before the review won’t do you any favors, for instance.
To wrap it up, besides that the program looks good and the interface is well done, I’m afraid that the most important thing, which is the review section, is substandard to put it very mildly. Also, the ads are a real nuisance. It’s a shame, really, because all their other software is great, but I guess this one is the black sheep in the family.
